Ok so first off I want to thank everyone who participated. I hope you all have some fun and enjoyed the event. I'll probably try to do something similar early next year.

I'm still on holiday so I haven't had much time to do organize this. So if I've make a mistake with the list can somebody fix it up (an admin or something).

The maps are all available from the submissions thread: http://forums.urbanterror.net/index.php/topic,13116.0.html.

You can base your votes on a mixture of gameplay, visuals, and theme. The competition was for ctf so concentrate on that when judging gameplay please.

Good luck everyone!

Sure. Why not. You can break it down into why you voted for it, or give all the maps their own ratings if you want. I'm sure the authors would be pleased to get nice constructive replies.

Can't vote, got stuck in the mud and it's raining like crazy. Who'd make a map like that anyway?

I voted on efort_b1. While it's not the best map of them all in all, it's the one that I think plays the best with the  8-12 people in CTF as what was according to the map-specifications. Although it truly lack the graphics and bond-theme, i find that secondary. It's also my map, so Wink

But if we don't care about the size, my vote would probably be Asylum. It really got a awesome atmosphere, awesome sound, texture, brush technique, decals and minimap and last but not least a good design. This is probably one of the better large maps around.

My other two favorites are secretbase and and Honeyride. Both have good size and are good fast fun and simple play and look nice. Even though secretbase got some bumpy terrain, and some big holes and campy spots above the spawns, it got the speed and fast paced game that Honeyride doesn't. Honeyride is a nice addition to the few vertical designed maps around, but it's not my favorite kind of gameplay. It still is alot of fun to play though Smiley

But all in all, I must say I'm impressed by the submission to this contest, and that it were a good initiative to get rolling. See how many fun good quality maps that can be achieved in a week if people just get around to doing it!
GG.

edit:
My experience is based out of about 4 or so complete cycles on all the maps, 20 minutes each and CTF with waverespawn. Player populations from 3on3 up to 7on7 and in 'public'. For clan wars etc, I might be of a different opinion.

I wish I could vote for almost all of the maps - I had a lot of fun playing them last night and I really wish they will get to be played. Most of them are worth it.

I apologize to all the other mappers Wink but voted for efort, and not because it was the first thing nighty told me to do this morning Cheesy I told him last night, the map is ugly as hell, but I found it interesting to play - you can get to flags even if they're defended and 5v5 is perfect for it (that's how we got to play it in the server last night). it feels a bit like proving grounds, the best escape routes are placed similarly but there are better hiding places in case both flags are gone.

My next vote would be Trak's map - it feels a bit large, but at the same time it's got lovely atmosphere and details. I didn't even mind that the map is almost empty, it adds to that abandoned feeling. Capping was a bit slower and fights for each flag intense cause flags are placed so close to spawns, but it was fun.

Another one which totally deserves a vote is Dragonne's map. This must have been a lot of work with all the gadgets, buttons, elevators and that wonderfully green laser room Smiley I tried to get fried, cut, electrocuted or whatever by everything. Was really, really fun to play - but I was screwing around more than playing, tbh Smiley

Tejen is a pretty piece of work too - but half the server was complaining loudly of fps drops and the map is definitely not suited for 8v8 Cheesy (Not intended, I know, but that's how we played it last night.) The outside was finished so nicely, but the inside needs some stuff so I can tell my way out of spawn Wink And I missed faster access to flags from the building in the middle - it would be risky but oh so quick Smiley

Duf Kni3n's map is mayhem pure - all I miss is slippery surfaces and it would be perfect. Nah, map plays nicely and fast, definitely with less players rather than more, and totally reminds me of ut_siberia Smiley Love it Smiley

Codey's map is a lot of fun too - the sentries are really annoying Cheesy Minimap is a must at least to get general direction, but there are also some nice fast routes between flags. When I finally stopped screwing around and exploring, I actually capped a few. Nice defense positions, good routes for flag runners, nice job. And I noticed every player found something they liked - the defending types, the attacking types, the all-round guys.

I need to play moonbase with other people. I only had a run around it by myself, but it feels real good. it's like a mixture of snoppis and docks and I like both of those maps Smiley this could be a real good one for small pubs but I smell lots of camping from/into spawns

shminky's map is actually fun, but something feels wrong. dunno what, will play more to find out Smiley

raid is a total lolz map. most of time I have no idea where I'm going, what I'm doing, but it's still fun. and the rain is so awesome.

Yas's and muffle's maps need shrinking. They feel terribly huge - the respective ideas for the maps are not bad, but the huge spaces are not what I look for in ctf. I like the textures in muffle's map though and the extra spaces above the main level in yas's. but both are way too big.

ok, this was waaaay too long, but I wanted to give you guys some appreciation. you put a lot of effort into your maps and i thoroughly enjoyed playing them. hope to see them in pubs, and my respect for your skills.

I voted for Asylum.

OK, I lied. tongue
If I hadn't had a map in the comp, I would have voted for Asylum (even with the flaky spawn doors that you can leave open and use Mr. Sentry to defend the flag! cheesy )

I also voted for my own, simply because of knowing first-hand the painstaking amount of work that went into it. Like dragonne said, if we hadn't made our own map... so far I would have voted on asylum (note I have -not- played all maps yet), due to the rich atmosphere, lighting quality, and what appears to be solid competition-type gameplay. Dragonne's was fun too, my wife kept bugging me to "go in that thing!" and "push that button"...stuff like that, we like things that do stuff. Cheesy

On the topic of ut4_raid:
As posted in the linked thread, please use these settings, or the server cpu may get a bit upset over the amount of default urban terror rain I added unnecessarily...
server: g_enablePrecip 0
client: cg_maxPrecip 16

Some people had initial complaints of having difficulties seeing, some heralded it. The intended idea is that it is pouring out - if you've ever fought your way through a nasty rainstorm, raid intentionally emulates that distressing environment. Nobody said spec ops was a sunny day job. Wink
